| Just went to the grocery store for a few items. I tend to park quite a ways out as I like to keep the paint on my pickup. While walking toward the store, I kept seeing this woman picking stuff up off the parking lot near the entrance to the store. Had she been pushing a homeless cart, like many in the area do, I would not have noticed so much. However this woman appeared to be somewhat respectable as she was clean and in reasonable clothing. I finally noticed that she was picking up cigarettes that were partially smoked and put out for the previous owner to enter the store. She would walk toward a garbage receptacle, perhaps ashamed of getting caught, and once there would look around, then put the handfull of partially smoked cigarettes in her pocket. I quit chewing copenhagen,...make that any brand tobacco, nearly 20 years ago. A can was .45 cents when I started at a very young age, and it was $1.36 per can when buying a 10 can roll at costco when I quit. The other day I stopped at a station to get a 52 oz. fountain drink and an apple fritter. The guy in front of me had 2 cans of chew on the counter. The lady rang it up as $13.xx and asked if there was anything else. He said no. I asked if that price was for just the 2 cans, he said yes. ...............I'm so freek'n happy I quit. Point being, wow!, nicotine can make a person do some funny things when it cost that much I guess. |
