north-central Indiana west of Fulton | I was a junior in high school when my dad and brother ordered a ‘74 model year 1066 that would be our first cab tractor. Previous big tractors were an 806 and 856. I don’t know the details, but before the red cab was delivered, the farm ended up trading the 806 in on a second new but left over white cab 1066. At that time if you were updating to a bigger tractor, it probably would have to be new because used really weren’t out there.
Compared to today, we didn’t have either 1066 that long… the red one was traded first, then the white cab one in ‘81….but my brother and I had painted it to look like a black stripe. My son wasn’t born until ‘87, but he has been searching for the 806 or 1066 for several years. To be honest, I wasn’t near as excited when the repainted 1066 showed up on marketplace. We didn’t have the serial number , and had no clue where it went. A quick message to the owner was sent by my son…...he soon had 37 more….which to me was surprising!
It sounded good and had good tires, beyond that ….it was so rough!
My boys were exited and have tore into it already. The cab is totally shot so it had to go first thing.
