Huge Kansas Farm on the Auction Block

The land will be sold off in 50 different tracts and is one of the largest amounts of crop acres ever auctioned at one time, according to the farm and ranch brokers. The land is suitable for growing corn, wheat, milo, soybeans and sunflowers. 

 

Mason & Morse Ranch Company’s Linda Niebur says there is currently excellent demand for high-quality farmland in the area.

 

“Everyone is trying to hedge against inflation,” she says. “The prices for dryland used to be at $1,000 right in that area, not even six or seven months ago. And, there was a piece that just sold for $6,664.”

 

Niebur says they sell land to a lot of outside investors and people taking their money out of the stock market, looking for a safer place to invest.

 

The owner of the 15,500 acres is an older gentleman who wants to retire, Niebur says. “With commodity prices the way they are, it is the perfect time to sell it.”

 

She expects to see higher-than-normal prices for this sale, based on the number of people who have called and inquired about it.

 

Since so many tracts will be selling on Dec. 2, Mason & Morse says the sale could continue on Dec. 3 and are encouraging any interested sellers to be prepared for a two-day sale.
