Subject: JD 4040/4230 Owners and Plowing

Looking to purchase a 4040 or another 4230 to go along with our 4230 and 4020 we have now. Wanting to go to something with a cab but keep the 404 engine. We have a turbo on the the 4020 now and wouldn't mind the new tractor having a turbo as well. Does anyone have any comments on adding a turbo to a 4230 or 4040? The turbo was already on the 4020 when it was purchased.

Also has anyone plowed with these tractors? I'm wanting to turn some hay acres under and also some corn stalks to turn into row crop acres and hay acres. I think I would prefer to use a moldboard plow for this purpose because they seem to be more readily available than a chisel plow of the right size also more than likely cheaper. I would think the 100-120 horse tractor would have it's plate full 4 16's or 10' chisel plow? I do have a set of band dualls from the 4230 we currently have that are 18.4-34's I could put on to help some but they are about bald and I'm sure band dualls don't help as much hubs.

Open to opinions and idea's on what's best here. The other duty's this tractor will have is planting, disking, 12' field cultivator, and hay equipment (will be nice not to eat dust on the balers). Of course if anyone has pictures of a nice 4040/4230 plowing or just in general feel free to show them off. Thanks in advance for any advice.
