Some of you may remember the thread I started in September; http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=188067&mid... It was about my campaign for municipal council in my local town, and I was looking for some ideas and advice - a big thank you to those who answered and emailed. Well, Ontario municipal election day was yesterday - I was running for one of four councillor positions in my municipality of almost 7000 residents, its a bedroom community with little agriculture. I have never done this before, but decided to campaign like I meant it, a lot of signs, a website and a mailed out brochure. Everything was 'branded' together. I spent a lot of time planning and strategizing to get my name and ideas out in front of people. Well I guess it worked! I was the top vote getter - even beat out a well respected incumbent. We had 12 local polling stations and I topped every single one. I had 68%, next closest councillor was at 53%. Just thought I'd let you know. Thanks for the support and encouragement from those who replied to the earlier thread. I guess I'll need to burst my own bubble now and actually get to work. Time will tell but I suspect getting anywhere close to the same results four years from now will be tough. I guess I will find out all those things people warned me about this position....
