Subject: Corn Head Stalk roll questions

MN
I've been researching different stalk rolls for our 612c Deere chopping head.

The least expensive are the OXBO, but I've found no one that's used them. We're strictly field corn. $130 dollars a row less than the Deere rolls

Second are the Deere knife rolls, They work well, but didn't last quite as long as I expected.

Calmers are around $150 more than the Deere. I've seen pictures, but don't know anyone using them.

I've heard of welding on the rolls on the older heads, but not the newer ones. Not sure the best technique to weld. The rear part of the rolls have a fairly significant amount of wear. The head will plug up at the back of the stalk rolls, and not pull through, leaving a straggler that will only pull through if I widen the deck plates.

Anyone have opinions or experience?

Thanks for your help.
