Illinois | We have run our new 3020 head over about 250 acres of beans so far, and here are my comments:
1. The dealer spent a half day attempting to find and fix all the quality control issues coming out of the factory, but we are still having problems. All the cutter bar arms have had the snap rings pop off, so we have shimmed those and drilled for cotter pins.
2. The long divider tension springs have fallen off somewhere in the field, and this caused some other hardware problems.
3. I hate the metric/ standard hardware combo.
4. Several other nuts and bolts have fallen off.
5. It feeds pretty well; probably better than the 1020 and probably due to the full finger auger.
6. It is touchy like the 1020 in less than ideal conditions. It pushes on the right side just the same.
7. The side access shields are great.
8. The lack of grease zerks is great but concerning long term. The knife drive head doesn't even have one.
9. I like the response of the auto head functions.
10. The hook ups are great.
11. I was forced to run without the long dividers today when the tension springs disappeared, and it works fine without them.
12. The number one problem is lack of parts availability, especially considering the issues.
Over all, I think it is going to be a decent head, but we have had more downtime than we had with the worn out 1020. It feeds nicely and seems less complicated as far as wear parts. I just can't get past the lack of common parts being available and some of the assembly issues. | |
