Subject: Technology and Mother Nature

EC Nebraska
Went to our local dealership planter clinic this spring and they talked about all the options these new planters have to improve yields. Better spacing, depth control, fertilizer monitoring all kinds of bells and whistles. Joked with dealer that as soon as you buy the planter it is out dated. Mother Nature on the other hand holds the cards, got done with corn Thursday night and got some rain over night. Things looked promising until Friday afternoon when the storms returned and made things look ugly. Rained so hard that could not see farther than a few hundred feet. Washed hills pretty good and cleaned the waterways out. Will finish the beans first then look at the corn to see the extent of replanting needed but forecast looks at least a week out now. Really appreciate the rain but don’t need it to come all in less than a half hour.
