Subject: What is "OneDrive" and how do I get rid of it???

Floyd County, Iowa
I have an HP laptop with Windows 11 (the one I'm on right now). I've saved many of my owner manuals and other documents to this computer over the last few years.
Lately I'm getting messages that say my OneDrive storage is almost full (94%) and that unless I upgrade I won't be able to save documents or pictures.
When I go to open up any of the manuals or other saved documents, Word starts up and wants to convert the document from pdf to an editable word document.
I can't open the document unless I convert it. I don't want this, and I don't like the appearance of word documents vs pdf.

What is OneDrive and how do I get rid of it, if that's possible?

I don't have that many documents and pictures on this thing. Our desktop has thousands of pics on it as well as all my manuals and documents, and it's fine, but it's running Windows 7.

HELP, please.
