Subject: Anyone near Steam Boat Rock Iowa or Wakefield Nebraska, dog food plant?

Montpelier Indiana
Looking for any information on a company called Naturally Recycled Proteins (NRP). From what I understand, they make the flavoring that goes into dog food, and have plants in Steamboat Rock and Wakefield.

I would like to know if anyone lives near these plants or has drove by them and if the plants smell bad. This company uses chicken slurry in the process to make the flavoring. From what I understand, the dead chickens are ground up somewhere and then shipped to the plant, pumped into tanks and then processed with something else to make the flavoring that goes into dog food.

My wife Cathie and I live just west of the City of Montpelier Indiana. The city built the infrastructure for an industrial park across the road from our home a few years ago (roads and city water). This company is planning on building a plant there soon. Cathie and I are concerned that this plant will produce a bad smell not only for us, but the whole town that is approximately ΒΌ mile from the proposed plant (the wind blows towards the city).

The mayor of the city and the Blackford County Economic Development Director have been to the plant in Steam Boat Rock and tell us that there is no bad smell. I wonder if the plant was in full production the day they were there.

NRP wanted to build a plant in Randolph County a few months ago near Union City and backed out because of public outcry.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
