Subject: How to wire convenience outlet on JD 4430?

Montana
We just bought a used 567 baler. I need to add a convenience outlet to our 4430 so I can plug the monitor in. Our JD service guy was nice enough to give us the plug, so we didn't have to buy the rather expensive kit. Now I just need to wire it in. I assume I want to go straight to the battery for the hot wire, correct? Where is the easiest place to find a switched lead? Is 16 gauge wire big enough? Do I need to add a fuse or circuit breaker? Thanks for any help.
