Woodham, Ontario | Our New Holland dealer (Great Lakes) had a new wide swath attachment that they wanted to try out. We wanted to try a discbine so we combined efforts. Our Oxbo 330 merger will pick up any swath regarless of width so it was easy to try.
Basically the regular swathformers get removed and 4 little spreader fins get installed on the swathboard. Really simple, can be adjusted and makes a pretty nice uniform swath.
In the lowerst setting: 13' mower, 10' swath. Basically drops the crop between the wheels of the mower. With a tractor set to 88" one tire can be driving beside the swath and the other has to be on it.
In the middle setting: Almost full cutting width! You are driving over the swath here. Basically eliminates the need for tedding, very nice for alfalfa hay!
Overall I am very impressed, if I were to get a New Holland discbine, I would get this kit. We also are doing a trial with pottinger mowers with rollers and without any conditioning, also trying "hay(lage) in a day". Will know more tomorrow, but may not have time to post the results. Teaser pic:
