Subject: Chiggers

East of Broken Bow
We have chiggers every year, some years worse than others, but is anyone else noticing that they are extra bad this year? I don't think the numbers are the worst they ever were, but I can't ever remember them feeling like they were boring holes into my legs (under the elastic of my socks) like this before. I think this is the itchiest I have ever been from them.

Chiggar-rid used to be the best thing, but I ran out of it and can't find it locally. The next best thing has been a salve fashioned after native American remedies.
Anyone have any sure-fire remedies? I have heard washing with bleach in the water works, but I wonder if it burns when it hits the bites?
