Subject: Gramoxone burndown what's works best for you

East Central Arkansas

So far everything has been delayed for us getting a crop in this spring due to all the rain we have had. I did get early season burndown out that really did a good job but this was in January. We haven't been using a preemerge herbicide with that as we bed up over the old rows and normally get to do that late winter or early spring. We ended up spraying a second time before bedding and used Gramoxone and Sencor at 3 oz a ac. We finally got the ground bedded but had to wait for a rain before planting but the rain has set in  and the weeds are growing back on the beds. It looks like we will spray everything again to be clean at planting. These beds still have to have the do-all pulled over them before planting for they will be right for planting but this doesn't kill the weeds and grasses. We will spay before doing this tillage pass. Before this last round of rains I did get to do a few acres with this third burndown spray. I am using 1 qt Gramoxone and 2 oz of Glory [Metribuzin}. We are using .25% surfactant and also using 8 oz Affect drift control to 420 gallons water. We are using the Greenleaf Turbodrop tips spraying 15 gpa. These are the 11003 tips. The design of this tip is that they have a orifice for the 03 tip but the spray pattern is through a 06 tip. At 60 psi they produce a course spray. For those of you using Gramoxone is 15 gpa with this tip enough water to use. A note in the AR U of A MP 44 book says to use at least 20 gpa of water with gramoxone.
