West Central Iowa | Trying to figure out what series of Eaton axle I have on my 79 Chevy C-70 truck. The truck has Dayton 'spoke' wheels and hydraulic brakes, with an electric shift 2 speed. I'm attaching 2 pics to also help. The number 106411 is stamped on the edge of the differential. From what I can gather that is for the differential only. The axle shafts have the number 62165 on the edge of the outside hub. The end of the axle shaft has a 6 inch diameter hub with a 12 bolt pattern as seen in the picture. The axle tube is square where the u bolts attach around the leaf springs. I understand some of these axles were round in this area. From the plate inside my glove compartment, it looks like it has a 6.5 ratio differential. The truck vin is C17089V167069 if that helps. One place I called seemed to think it was a series 17200, which would be a 17,000 pound axle. In researching, I've seen listings for series 17200, 17202, and 17220. I assume these are all different versions of a similar axle. There is no id tag or stamp showing any kind of numbers like this on my axle. Can someone help me make sense of the numbers I have and what to ask for when searching the net or calling used truck parts places?
