Got a call Monday morning about a front wheel locking up on an 8420 MFWD ILS. In the middle of a cotton field.

Finally had some time today to tear into it. We lifted the front end up with the 3 point on another tractor and drug it back to the shop.

It appears that a bolt broke holding one of the planet gears. It chewed up the gears and busted the outer hub.

Had to use the gas ax to get it all apart.

The bolt ring cut easy, the rest of the hub was very difficult to cut. Ended up finishing the cut with a grinder. Finally got it spread apart enough to pry it off.  

And of course some of the parts are on back order! Hope they can find the missing parts at a dealer somewhere.

Tractor has 5600 hrs and this is the second time this happened!
