Subject: Shocked cleaning an air filter tonight.

NW Iowa. / SW Arizona
Was doing my annual maintenance on my 8300 this afternoon before I put it in cold storage for the winter. One of the last things I did was clean the outer air filter outside the shop. As I was holding the filter in mid air it felt like I was getting shocked as I was blowing air into it. Sure enough I set the filter on the ground and looked inside the filter and as I was touching the inside of the filter with my air gun I could see the static electricity arcs. It was getting dark out so it was easy to see the arcs. I've been cleaning filters for over 38 years and I've never once experienced this before.

Here a picture of my favorite air filter cleaning tool. I've got one of those high priced $400 spinner cleaners but prefer this instead. I'd sell it for 1/2 price if anybody wants it.

Other picture is an outer air filter out of my combine but it's made the same as my 8300 I was getting smoked from.
