Mid-Michigan | This post is geared for ag engineers if any are on here. I'm sick of my stones. I want them gone before I'm dead. I have been picking by hand or mechanically for 50 years. My dad has been at it for probably 70 (he's 84). Dad did buy a very good machine about 20 years ago (I think it is called rock-o-matic). We have both the picker and the rake. It does a good job if conditions are absolutely perfect. I have raked and picked tons and tons (and sold a few to a few yo-yo's). I want a machine that is bigger (I want to pick wider than 5 feet). I want a machine that is faster than the sub 1mph that I'm going now. I want one that works under various conditions and separates dirt from stones. I want one that can dump into a truck. I want one that I can afford. I have looked at all the newest and greatest and they are nothing but glorified systems of what I have and they are ridiculously priced. Nothing on our farm has done more damage to our equipment than stones. After two generations of picking, we have them on the run, but I don't want one left. Invent a machine that is big and efficient. Like most farmers, I'll pay for quality and efficiency. | |
