| That's the whole marketing scheme they are using to sell this product. An overwhelming amount of farmers over apply N and they are taking advantage of that by asking you to reduce your N and replace the 40 units with their product. In most cases when the farmer reduces his N it was still likely not the limiting yield factor.
Any trial needs to have checks to ensure the amount of nitrogen used is a limiting factor by 40 lbs or more, otherwise the data is useless because you don't know if you even needed that last "proven 40" to make your yield potential.
