So you have data showing Zero N applied and no pivot bio against zero N applied and using pivot bio. And showing the pivot bio yielding more?
With $1100 NH3 and your figure of $20/ac for 40 pounds you are saving $6.80/ac on input which is a bushel of corn. Yet if it doesn’t work we know 40 pounds of N can cost you $200-$300/acre.
Keep on drinking the koolaide
Nope. That to me is a pointless test. Not only would it be an incredible yield hit, but it would probably fall down with that little N and the yield data would end up being worthless.
I never had the chance to buy 1100 NH3 and I doubt I can buy it today for that either. I would have if I could have but it was never offered to me anyway. But based on the data, I would have bought PB anyway just to diversify N sources. I don't have the data but I would bet early season N levels would be higher with PB applied even with NH3 already applied since the bacteria would be working before the roots found the N, and high early season N tissue level matter. |
