You are right. Take a level. That's how my dad did it. Other farmers would have dad set their plows, and many of them would never touch their hitch afterwards. One guy rode with dad one time and started arguing with that the plow wasn't level. "You could see it from the tractor. I was told you knew how to set a plow. Boy, were they wrong!" Dad gets off and grabs his trusty level and shows the idiot it's dead level. Dad said,"You're one of those guy? Knows it all, but don't really know S#$%! When you're on the tractor a correctly set plow will NEVER look level from the seat. It's an optical illusion. Now I know why I and everyone else can see every round you plow. Ya set a plow, itself, right and you can wrap a chain around the hitch and it pulls perfect and easy."
