Manson IA | If it where me after having kind of BTDT. I bought tractors first then bought a skid steer. I would do the opposite if I had to do it over again. Buy as much of a skid as you can afford and a root grapple. Later when you are closer to getting things cleaned up to maybe do some hay then look at an older 80-100hp tractor.
I first bought a 3020 for our small acreage with a loader, and while it worked, it is nothing compared to the T190 bobcat I have now. Cleaning up brush and trees is SO much easier with the skid and a grapple... I had no idea how much I would use the skid until I bought one. Bought one after renting one one weekend. My wife even uses it in the spring. She uses the grapple to pickup big sticks and branches. And then goes around with the bucket and rakes little sticks and leaves into the bucket. Saves her back not having to use the lawn cart and mower. And the tracks if you are careful do not tear up the yard. | |
