I ground my garage floor.  I put in black granite instead of regular aggregate. Wood screen, careful not to walk on it as to push rock into mix more, would take more grinding to get profile more even and not see footsteps.
Had a company out of Fargo do it - 3 hours away, had to rent a 3 phase generator for power. Expensive finish but will last a lifetime.
I have seen it done to a regular concrete floor and it does look nice.  Nicer depending on rock in mix.
