SW Ontario | You are correct, you can add the second fan/burner to gain capacity. At the time I was a little scared of having 2 units because I figured that meant twice as many parts and possibly twice as many future problems. After running one five years with little problems it maybe isn't a concern, as long as it is a cost effective way to upgrade.
Make sure you see some of the other work the dealer has done and talk to their customers to make sure they are satisfied.
