Subject: Re: House heating machinery

Southeast Iowa
We had a new Lennox, high efficiency unit put in two years ago. We went from 125,000 btu down to 75,000 and leap-frogged the same A/C coil to the new unit. Altogether it cost 1700 dollars. Our original furnace was a Green Colonial and the thinking must have been "bigger is better" so the 125,000 we had was way too big and used propane like mad. After we bought the house I tried every way imaginable to get the smokestack temperature down but was only partially successful. Once we remdeled and did a roof-off, that was the end of the smokestack era, and we bought the new unit.
