IMHO, yes they are. I think they help the disc go in the ground better and our 637's do a very smooth job also. Our dealer ordered one without the rock flex, and they couldn't get it to take the ground at all. Lots of guys don't like the 637's, but we are very satisfied with ours on how they take the ground in corn stalks, and I believe part of that is because of the rock flex.
