Subject: RE: I bet they downsize or close

Elmira, Ontario

The numbers don't add up for me. 60 to 70 tractors and only 5m in sales? That means they aren't selling much to farmers. It's mostly compact tractors and attachments sold to "hobby" farmers. Nothing wrong with that, and I wish them well. I really do. I'll take the dealer's side ahead of a manufacturer's any day of the week. That's why they were able to switch their customers over. That group of buyers doesn't have the exposure to the various brands that farmers have over their lives.

But, they couldn't have been representing the full JD lineup at those kinds of sales (I took the 5M to mean total dealer sales including parts/service and used). Knowing what I know about Deere's stocking rules, that dealer couldn't have had anything over about 90hp (5M/5025 series and smaller only) in stock, and wouldn't have qualified to stock planting/seeding, tillage, harvesting or even possibly haying equipment.
