Wisconsin | Testing the voltage drop on a starter is a little tricky without knowing which components are good. A dragging starter can draw too many amps, and cause the battery voltage to look low, or even cause cable voltage drop and heat. You can check cranking voltage at the starter terminal to starter body. From the battery ground point to the positive battery post with the cable going to the starter. And you can check all three cables too. Using a known good battery and two good cables is a simpler way to test the starter... | |
