Kettle River, MN
Nice clean looking sled.

I dont know what kinda of clutch you have in there but it should be able to get tuned by tweaking the guts to get better low range response. Whats the top speed? Sometimes if its geared really tall its an easy fix to go down one or two teeth on the top. Some sleds need new chains if you gear down more than that.

I doubt that changing the carbs would improve the throttle response by an amount that would be worth the time that it would take. If you are running plenty rich it might help to jet a little leaner. Cardboard brown or a hair darker on the plugs.

Best bet is changing the ramps, weights, and spring in the primary and the spring and helix in the secondary. You will end up working on BOTH to get big improvements. Look around on snowmobile forums that have a vintage threads. http://www.snowmobilefanatics.com/forum/forum/77/display.aspx might have someone on there who would have the knowledge to lead you on the right path.
