Moisture was good to just a little on the dry side in the grassy spots.
From your experiment what do you use as a cutoff on time between baling & wrapping?
15% moisture, wrapped within 24 hours, one week and three weeks (thinking hay would sweat out first), couldn't see any difference.
18% moisture, same results, as 15%.
27% moisture, wrapped 1 day after baling, 2nd day, 3rd day, 4th day & 5th day. Could tell it was heating, couldn't see any difference.
32% moisture, wrapped 1 day after baling, 2 day & 3rd day, no difference again.
Have some 42% moisture did 1 day and 2 day (this year's experiment), haven't opened and fed any yet.
I put these bales out for cows at same time (eg a 2nd day, 3rd day & 4th day), cows didn't eat in a constant order.
Note: All hay was sampled (cored) and sent to lab, so moisture is what lab reported, not my SWAG method. Single bale wrapper, 6 layers of 1.2 mil white plastic. I get asked what is with all the graffiti on my wrapped RB (I spray paint info on them). YMMV
