| I pushed them tight together for first couple of years, twine tied, nice and green when feeding on the ends, worked great till one year when there was a lot of bales with spoiled ends. Did nothing different that I could think of, now leave an airspace 2- 8 inches. Ends turn brown, but it is only about 1/4 inch deep, virtually no loss on the ends. Maybe in dry climates it is OK to push tight, but in your and my world I would never do it again. | |
