South Dakota
Lane2006: This thread is a bit aged but I found it due to current SD weather. About washouts: I started no-til 20 some years ago in hel soils with washouts. I plant on each side off the washout, overlapping on washout to get seed thick down in all of it. Might seem a little hard on equipment but I go slow and have had good luck. No-till equipment is tough. Several washouts are just "gone" Others are getting smaller as years go by. A couple years ago one washout that was much improved had a setback, that field turned into prevented planting that summer due to constant rain it did not get planted and nothing grew in it, dirt began washing out again. Seems to be healing now.
