#2 Take a big angle grinder with a good big grinding wheel on it and go along the entire length of the flighting on the auger to square up the edge of it. You won't believe the difference that a good square edge on the flighting will make vs a rounded off smooth edge.
If you use a corded grinder either take the sickle out or take the belt off of the sickle drive so you don't cut your cord off when you turn the head. BTDT, makes things exciting when the sparks are flying from the cord.
