NW NC | Unless you’re spreading something other than chicken litter (I’m talking about cow manure with hay mixed in,) a regular spreader bed is the go to thing here in chicken territory. We have 2 trucks with beds. One hydraulic, one mechanical. We do have GPS on the hydraulic bed for painting where we’ve spread. You can buy an inverted V for the bed to spread lime with, and also can buy the heavier duty chain with double bars, double drive motors, etc. We have the V but never used it. Just easier and as cost effective to get someone else to spread the lime.
I’ll add that we NEVER have plugging issues in the bed unless you have hay/cow manure mixed in. That’s everything from dry powder coming out of the house, litter from a dry stack or wet nasty litter piled outside.
