5 CFM compressor would be about hopeless on a 3/4 impact or any larger die grinder. I have an 8 or 9 gallon 14~ CFM wheel barrow compressor, and it can get a workout when using an impact, die grinder, or air hammer. It works well enough, but I can start to loose pressure easily enough. I think you can get a wheelbarrow compressor for under 1000 if that helps.
