| The S9’s are great machines. Do not let the tired comments like “Silver Seeder” sway your opinion. The improvements Gleaner has made in the past years has made them the most economical/capable per bushel harvested machine on the market, PERIOD. If you give them a fair shake I think you would be happy. I’m surrounded by a sea of green combines, red not so much, and It blows my mind what my neighbors spend on annual maintenance. Gleaners are not perfect, nothing is. I just smile and nod when the haters start teasing about my “Silver Seeder” when in fact they just dropped 10-20K on their red and green stallions after getting them out of their annual inspection stables. If grain quality is important to you, nothing compares. The white corn flour on top of my neighbors grain bins in the fall tells volumes about the competitive machines in my area. Maybe no one knows how to set their machines, but I doubt that’s the case. ALL COLORS have their pluses and minuses, you just need to figure out what works for you. If your handy with a wrench, you can work on 90% of the machine yourself aside from proprietary computer analysis where you would need a competent dealer. There are no heavy gearboxes or CVT drives hanging 12 feet in the air buried by 50 hydraulic lines or belts. They are very simple, and repair friendly. Gleaner also uses industrial chrome plating STANDARD on high wear areas. Last I knew this was an option on the other colors (extended wear packages), maybe that has changed, not sure. Good luck on your decision. | |
