Faunsdale, AL | Shift on the fly is great, but if you drop an automatic into a gear with truck stopped, you will have no difficulty engaging the regular pto either with a cable or air shift. It eliminates a failure point. If you go with a clutch type, you can minimize wear by stopping before engaging
Some Allison’s have a place to mount a “live” pto up front on the torque converter end of the trans instead of back on the side. Those have to be clutch type or you will be stopping the engine to engage and disengage. | |
