Sit next to the window in the very back seats of a DC-9, then you have the real noise.
Most newer ones are a bit quieter that the older. 4 years ago we walked across the border to Tijuana, Mex and it was very noticable that the aircraft departing the airport were much louder that many that we here in the states. I'm guessing that from the looks of them too they were old 4 engine 707's
