Seems most all colored combine farmers around here is how fast they can combine corn & a Class 5 or 6 combine would be slow with a 12r head. In fact around here the Class 5 or 6 combine owners are all in larger machines. Most farmers with 12r heads want to run 5 to 7 mph & not slow down when unloading on the go & this takes HP.

Most people with a 12 row head don't understand how many trucks it takes to actually gain the efficiency of a big machine that can harvest 12 rows at 5-7mph. I can push close to 4000 bushels per hour with a Class 6 Gleaner S96 with a 12 row header at 4mph or less depending on the corn...how many of you can handle an HONEST 4K bu/hr?

How many can handle the 6-7K bu/hr a newer class 8-9-10 can run through ONE machine? Now, how many of you know farms with more than one of them that sit as much as they shell corn?

My point is, the 12 row head is not the only thing that determines how fast you drive, or how much you can shell in a day. There are a whole multitude of things on a farm that determine that. Some people would rather drive at 3mph all day as they would 5-7mph, and for those such people, a smaller Class 6 machine will run just as big a head as any class 8-9-10 at a slower ground speed. Some people want to show off...it's all u[ to the operator and farm operation to make that choice for themselves.
