Northeast Missouri | If you don't have any leaks on the coupler housing the only parts that you will need to replace are the operating lever and expansion plug. There is a expansion plug on top of the coupler housing above the broken lever that you have to remove. Drive a punch into the plug and pry out. There is a retaining ring and a spring on top of the operating lever shaft that needs to be removed. Then the broken lever can be pushed out the bottom of the coupler housing but be carefull not to damage the O-rings. The new lever now can be installed from the bottom of the coupler housing. I would put a little bit of grease or oil on the lever shaft before you install the lever so you won't damage the O-rings. Replace the spring and retaining ring and then the expansion plug. After you install the expansion plug you will have to flatten it in the center so it expands for a tight fit. | |
