Like the drought of 2011.. south of I 70 was a dumpster fire.. north of it.. (with our moisture shunted north) was beau coup wonderful.
Different but similar this year.. we’re gonna have some pivots do better than 135 like 2011.. maybe 175.. a couple maybe over 200.. most all of the dryland corn is already baled or chopped or soon will be. Some pivots have been appraised at less than 50 bu.. did 200 last year and are being chopped.
the Cornbelt has a new export customer in SW Kansas and the panhandles.. normally SC Kansas exports to SW KS.. this year.. we’ll be railing IN corn for several months.. we are praying that it rains enough to germinate wheat this fall.. it will take 4” just to fill the deficit beneath and bring moisture to germination depth.
I get it northern Cornbelt.. Eastern Cornbelt are flirting with record corn yields..
here.. we’re baleing soybeans.
so it goes.
Picture of neighbors planted sorghum field waiting on moisture to fully emerge.. uhm.. running out of time.
