I worked a local repair shop and we did quite a few 619 engines with head gasket issues.  Yes, the counter bores crack and the liners sink, because the design of the engine mounting solid to the front frame and axle.  You need to get the head machined for fire rings and a head gasket made for the fire rings.  The shop has a local machine shop that can cut the grooves and he has the fire ring/head gasket set.  Let me know if you want contact info.
