Is that the JD model that they put a souped up 4 cylinder in for a couple runs then the rest had a 6 cylinder?Seems I looked at one and found out the 4 cylinder was an issue in their attempt to economize.
The early JD 7130 tractors had the 6.8L engine. Starting around 2010, they went to using the 4.5L engine. Both engines are the same basic engine, the 4.5L is just missing 2 cylinders.
A 6430 uses the 4.5L engine, and has about 5 less hp than the 7130.
The 4.5L is very capable of putting out the factory hp of a 7130. They are a robust engine.
The 6 cylinder 6.8L is smoother sounding, and has better torque at an idle. Otherwise, you won't see much difference in performance. I've run both a lot.
The 6 cylinder is nice, I like it better. But it wouldn't be a deal breaker if everything else was right. |
