south central WI
I can't speak for him, but silage is so much better than dry hay for us. Can cut and harvest same day sometimes, stores great, get done quick, no fires to worry about, they eat it great etc. Everyone does what works for them. We don't even like baling foe bedding. We windrow corn stalks and chop them up with an older gehl (1085 currently) and pile them up. No strings or wrap to freeze up. Less rot than bales imo (same amount if used right away).
