An auger head with an air bar might feed off the sickle as well as a draper but they won't feed beans into the combine as smooth as a draper.

I have a couple of farms close to Local dealer house. He sells a pile of macdons. He came an rode with me after dark last year (late October and around 10PM). He didn’t have much to say other than he’s never seen an auger head feed so smooth. He wanted to see how the air bar worked. He left knowing he wasn’t going to sell me a Draper.

I had the main drive bracket come loose on the fan one night. Thought well I’ll just unhook the PTO till I get it fixed. Cut less than 100 feet and said nope. Took it up to shop and welded right there and kept rolling.

Are drapers nice. Sure. Will they cut and feed and 6MPH. Yep they sure will.

But an air bar will make a cheap mint auger feed just as good and put more beans in the tank with 1/4 of the cost and maintanece.

Just saying
