Subject: Aligning Yeild Maps w/Soil Tests

Macon, IL
Going through and overlaying yeild maps and soil tests tonight-this wet year really opened my eyes to a few things. Look at these 2 examples from the same field-areas are about 500ft apart-same soil tyle (first year on this farm so I didn't know what to expect, I know the whole field needs lime but too wet last fall to get it down).

Area 1 (well drained)
Ph: 5.8
Phos: 34
Potassium: 236
Yeild: 226

Area 2 (lower, not as well drained-no pond, just wet)
Ph: 5.7
Phos: 117
Potassium: 328
Yeild: 144

I would not have thought you could grow 220 bushel corn with soil tests as bad as top area, nor that soil testing that much better could be hurt that much by a little bit wetter area.
