| We have a Kuhn Krause 6200 finisher w/ 5 bar spike harrow & a Tigermate II with 5 bar spike harrow., I'd just as soon leave the 6200 in the shed, f.c. leaves a much better seed bed IMO. Planted probably 85% of our cornn& beans behind 1 pass with the f.c. HOST corn stalks were worked last fall with a 870 disc ripper & bean stubble was uncorked. Only ground we ran the finisher on was fall worked corn stalks that got weedy late & we ran the finisher 2x over it before planting beans.
We use to have a Tigermate II with 3 bar spike harrow / rolling basket. I lreally liked the seed bed it left if only making one trip but if we had to make a 2nd pass it left to ground to fine on our lighter ground, OK on black soils, and they would tend to crust after a rain. Bougutna 2nd Tige4mate with 5 bar spike for when we had to make 2 passes. Trade both for a bigger Tigermate with the 5 bar spike harrow.
One place I think a finisher has an advantage is when the ground has a hard crust. The discvblades cut the crust enough that the field cultivator shanks don't chunk as much as a regular field cultivator.
