We have tried using a Krause and a JD finisher, but like the other poster said, jack of all trades, and master of none, at least on my dirt.

If I have to not notill, like this year where we built several miles of terraces on several different farms, I have to disk it, and then we run a big harrow over everything to hopefully get it all smooth enough to notill the following years.

I've found if I have to disturb the dirt much, then I really want to work the dirt, and get it smooth, and I can't do that with a one pass finisher. Also, the VT stuff just doesn't do enough when I have to do it.

We just bought a like new Case 375 disc with hydraulic rolling baskets on the back. That plus a 60 foot 16 bar McFarland harrow running behind it makes quick work of when you have to till, and you end up with a better field than the finisher left it.

Once again.... At least in my dirt.....
