North End I-15 | are in the pocket of the wind people . Then what happens is .... It is determined you must buy from the closest source.
That was tried here in Montana back in the Montana Power days . They wanted and got rate increases to pay for the Coalstrip generation plans #3 and 4 before they were built . When they could not get all they wanted , they split the company in to differnt enities . Production , Transmission , Retail sales .Same with the natural gas .Then Each enity was entitled to a "fair profit" Before rates were set on overall costs , then with 3 enities each had their own costs to make a "Fair return " on . Then the company went down . Stock holders took it in the shorts . Company employees pentions were based on company stock , which for years was good return . One fellows 300,000 of stock became worthless or nearly so . He did keep his job and now works for the NorthWest what ever it is called .
We buy most of the power for the co-op from Federal water generation sources , But , the co-op was forced in to buying some from the close Coal production . Rates jumped to reflect the increased cost . Public Utilities boards are always under pressure to grant rate increases for what ever reason . It's going to get worse. :>) | |
