I tend to agree with Big Norsk. The B.S. degree is going to give you the background you need; the on-the-job experience is where you will really learn. The only real reason to get the B.S. degree is to get your foot in the door. Beyond that.... it's what you do on the job. Coming out with your B.S. degree, I would expect most job offers will be in the area of sales - i.e. from companies like Gromark, and the like - companies that sell/provide seed, fertilizer, pest control, etc etc. Don't discount these kinds of jobs, as they do give you an opportunity to work with farmers. However, if you want to work in the consulting field, there is no better way than to get hired on working for an established consultant - say, working summers while going to school. |
